Five Reasons Why You Will Gain Health Benefits By Exercising

Here are exercising tips Courtesy of the ADA

Are there easy tips and tricks to losing weight by exercising?

1. Overeating is not a side effect of exercising. Vigorous exercise is not going to stimulate you to overeat. You may want to drink more water, but not overeat. Usually it is just the opposite. Exercise, even for a short time, helps curb your appetite immediately after a workout.

2. When you are exercising don’t wait until you feel thirsty and you then go for a drink. By the time you feel thirsty, you’re already dehydrated. What is good to do is drink at least 16 ounces of water 2 hours before you exercise. You can drink sports drinks or juice but why pack on the calories before you exercise. Then drink 8 ources an hour before and another 4 to 8 ounces every 15-20 minutes during your workout. The higher impact your workout is, the more important it is to drink every 15-20 minutes. Finish with at least 16 ounces after your done with your exercise routine.

3. If you are working out at the gym on the treadmill or step machine, tune into your mp3 player or ipod. If you go for a walk, tune into the music or motivational music or speakers to help keep you going longer and motivating you to look forward to your next walk.

4. Do you think Yoga is too soft to burn calories? Think again. You can burn 250 to 300 calories during a one hour class. That is just about how much you would burn from a one hour walk. Yoga also helps improve muscle strength, flexibility and endurance.

5. Did you know that dehydration can slow down your metabolism by about 3% or burns 45 fewer calories a day. Keep your body hydrated by drinking at least 6-8 glasses of fluid a day, preferably water. If you are prone to heart disease, discuss this with your doctor. The key to water is how frequently you drink it during the day. Small amounts sipped during work is better than gulping down an 8 ounce fluid cup.
