Here are healthy tips Courtesy of the ADA

Are there any easy rapid weight loss tips to help me lose weight faster and eat healthier? I eat healthy but still overweight.

1. Many healthy eaters skip meals, especially breakfast. If you diet by day, you will most likely binge at night. Eating even a small meal at breakfast sparks your metabolism.

2. Don’t eat unconsciously. You can easily much 600 calories of pretzels, popcorn, cereal without even realizing it. Don’t get mesmerized by TV and forget you are eating and tasting every bite.

3. If you are eating pasta like crazy, try and eat only 1 cup and add plenty of green veggies.

4. Try and avoid supersize bagels. They can contain 400-500 calories and that doesn’t even include what you put on the bagel. If you really want a bagel, eat the miniature bagel instead.

5. Look at the nutrition facts on the label of your foods. Don’t ignore the “serving size” and just pretend eating the more of the food won’t contain extra calories.

6. Nuts are healthy but dense with calories. Don’t just snack in front of the TV. Put the bowels away and use nuts as a garnish rather than a snack.

7. Do you think all energy bars and fruit smoothies are low-cal? Think again and look at the nutrition panel.

Belly Fat and Weight Loss Research

Written by admin

I was listening to Dr. Ronald Hoffman and thought this was a very important new discovery to mention regarding weight loss. If you can’t lose weight or constantly hungry, maybe you have an enemy around your waistline—your belly fat. It appears there is a new mechanism found where the appetite is increased in people who are overweight with belly fat.

Let’s look at the story about the fat around your waistline—belly fat. Belly fat can be your worst enemy when it comes to dieting. It turns out that fat around the waistline may act as a hostile enemy organ churning out powerful stimulating hormones and that may very well be the reason why you are overweight and constantly hungry.

You would think that it should be easy to lose weight by eating less and burning off your fat with exercise. It appears that fat cells accumulated around the waist do a lot of things. They release pro-inflammatory substances, they promote insulin resistance, they can raise blood pressure, but they also may affect the brain by churning out a powerful appetite stimulating hormone that’s called neuropeptide Y. It’s an appetite stimulant that was previously thought just to come from the brain. It now appears that your belly fat makes it and what they are targeting now and wondering is if there’s a way they can block NPY or neuropeptide Y via a drug that can injected directly into the belly fat or maybe a transdermal cream that you can apply to your belly that allows enough of the drug to be absorbed into the skin thus turning off the appetite stimulating effect of your own fat cells.

It is an intriguing prospect. It is not yet available at your local health food store or pharmacy but promising work is underway.

I think this is promising. If the belly fat is churning out NPY, then if there is something that can stop that constant hunger, that would greatly help with weight loss. When you are not hungry, most people will not eat. If you have that nawing hunger, it is difficult to lose weight.

Hope that this research and development of a product can help people who have belly fat and overweight to somehow control the hunger. The product looking to be developed doesn’t appear to make you lose weight, but control your constant hunger so you can lose weight.

Here are tipsto avoiding bingeing on sweets Courtesy of the ADA

Are there any easy and quick weight loss tips to help me lose weight and avoid bingeing on sweets?

1. If you love your sweets, have a lean salad for lunch or dinner and save the meal’s calories for a full dessert. Do this once in a while.

2. Which type of person are you: Are you better once you make up your mind you will do better without sweets and don’t keep them around your house? Or are you better at eating a limited amount of sweets per day? One RD reported that most of her clients picked the latter. They find they can avoid bingeing after a few days. You can have your cake and eat it too in small moderation.

3. Does your family want a sweet treat every night? Strike a balance between healthy choices. One choice can be low-fat icecream with fruit or another choice can be just fruit with a dollop of whipped cream. Allow them some “free will” but keep with your healthy choices.

4. If you really want to avoid sweets and live without them, try to avoid them for 2 weeks. Hard, but your cravings will vanish. You may even find after a few days the cravings are gone.

5. Eat more fruit throughout the day. A person who gets enough fruit in their diet, tend not to have a raging sweet tooth.

6. You can eat your sweets but carve out about 150-200 calories per day to include your sweets. This amounts to about an ounce of chocolate, half a slice of cake and 1/2 c of regular icecream. Sit down and savor every bite.

7. If you must eat sweets, try these: sugar-free hot cocoa, frozen red grapes, fugesicles, sugar-free gum, hard candy. Sip or eat them slowly and enjoy. How about those 100 calorie packs that are sold now.
